Care First 24 Staff Enjoy the Benefits of a Lunchtime Wellbeing Walk

Following her attendance at a Mental Health First Aid course, Dulcie, one of our Senior Recruitment Consultants at Care First 24, was inspired to introduce a lunchtime wellbeing walking group. Her aim was to encourage colleagues to step away from their desks, clear their minds, get some exercise, and connect with one another on a more personal level.  Here, in the image – joining Dulcie on this particular walk – are Carly, Megan and Isaac.

Each day, the group meets during their lunch break to enjoy walks around the beautiful countryside surrounding Brasted, where the office is located. Dulcie comments:-

“I feel like it has helped boost our morale, while also keeping us active and supporting our mental wellbeing.”

The success of this initiative highlights the importance of incorporating a simple activity like walking into your daily routine. A lunchtime walk can deliver a wide range of physical and mental health benefits, including:

  • Improved heart health – Regular walking helps build stamina, burn calories, and support a healthier heart.
  • Weight management – Walking contributes to maintaining a healthy weight and can support weight loss goals.
  • Enhanced social interaction – Walking together encourages stronger workplace relationships and fosters a more positive environment.
  • Boosted mood – Physical activity increases blood flow and releases natural chemicals that help reduce stress and improve mood.
  • Improved mental well-being – Walking can enhance cognitive performance, reduce anxiety, and spark creativity, making it a great way to recharge.
  • Better sleep – Regular walks can help regulate your body clock and improve sleep quality.
  • Reduced risk of chronic diseases – Walking is linked to a lower risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and other long-term health conditions.

As you can see, taking a walk with colleagues during lunchtime offers significant benefits for both physical and mental well-being. A big thank you to Dulcie for applying what she learned during her training and for encouraging the Care First 24 office team to take part in this valuable and rewarding activity.
