Nicole Halliday – Apprentice Nurse and Clinical Support at Care First 24 Ltd
At Care First 24 Ltd, we fully appreciate that the clinical support role has a wide range of responsibilities to ensure that the company as a whole reaches its full potential. The role is crucial for continuing support and keeping the business essentials strong and consistent.
Here Nicole Halliday tells us a little more about her background and career path to becoming an Apprentice Nurse and Clinical Support.
We asked Nicole how it all started:-
1. What was your background and career path before starting at Care First 24? What was your first position?
When I first started my journey in care, it was in a residential home for individuals with complex needs and epilepsy. I loved this role as I gained lots of skills and knowledge which started me on a path to wanting to become a registered nurse. I have worked in a community setting and enjoy meeting people and making a difference. I have worked with My mum who is a registered nurse and was one of the reasons why I aspire to be a health care worker and soon a nurse.
2. What are your main roles as Apprentice Nurse and Clinical Support at Care First 24? How did it all begin for you, and what do you enjoy most about this role?
Currently, my role is an Apprentice Nurse and Clinical Support. This means I am part-time completing my nursing degree and working part-time to put theory to practice but being supported by my workplace. I enjoy learning and working at the same time as this helps me develop my skills as a student nurse. As well, this brings new ideas into the company as continually learning about different practices supports the business to keep up to date or try new things. I enjoy caring for people and gain such pride in helping service users, families, and care team to ensure everyone feels supported.
3. Are there many opportunities to access training to help you enhance your knowledge and advance your career at Care First 24?
Yes, I am currently completing my nursing degree and will soon be qualified as a registered nurse. Care First 24 is enabling me to finish my degree and support me within the workplace as soon I start my preceptorship. Care First 24 is looking for people who are looking to develop and start a new career as a nursing associate.
4. Are there many career progression opportunities within Care First 24?
Yes, as stated previously Care First 24 is looking to support people with nursing apprenticeships but also looking into progressing current or new staff members by challenging themselves, trying different roles, and learning different skills.
5. What guidance and support have you received from your colleagues and managers since joining the team?
I have gained lots of support from various people, I am grateful to feel so at home.
