Care First 24 are currently seeking a Paediatric Complex Care Assistant who can support a new package of care in Hereford. You will be joining a new package of care support a young person who requires complex care. You will be supported by our inhouse Clinical Team as well as experienced Complex Care Coordinators in delivering a solid care experience for the mental health patients requiring complex care and families involved.

Care First 24 are a complex care provider for both physical and mental health needs across the UK and support those with PHB’s, CHC funded, case management as well as private clients. We work with all age and all types of care, and we understand that healthcare can bring with it a lot of emotions, and many of our clients are going through some of the most trying times of their lives. We provide kind, compassionate, and patient support that ensure the client feels comfortable and safe in our care. We will provide tailored care and support. In high-pressure situations, we strive to be a calming force that can make a positive difference.

Proposed Package details:

Requires 2:1

From 16:00-21:00pm x 3 Weekdays

From 10:00-16:00pm Every other Saturday throughout the year.

General Needs:

  • Gastrostomy feeding, care and management.
  • Medication administration
  • Manual handling
  • Challenging Behaviour management.

Pen Picture:

The young person is 15 years old and lives at home with family. They are totally dependent on others meeting all their needs (i.e., washing, dressing and feeding). They are incontinent and requires pads day and night. They are unable to walk or stand without support. The young person requires a wheelchair, home chair and standing frame for accessing everyday life activities.

  • They are currently nil by mouth and gastrostomy-fed.
  • They are nonverbal but can communicate with others using different tones and expressions and is a very vocal young person. They have switches at home and at school to help with communication and choices.
  • They have a good sense of humour and enjoys interaction with his family and carers.
  • They require 2:1 for all manual handling tasks as he can be unpredictable and rocks when in the hoist .


  • Premature gestation 24 weeks
  • Chronic lung disease – now well managed
  • Frequent lower respiratory tract infection – improved
  • Cerebral palsy and right sided hemiplegia
  • Reduced visual acuity
  • Kyphosis and dislocated left hip surgery in November 2011
  • Gastrostomy and button (No fundoplication)
  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease
  • Chronic left otitis media and tympanic perforation
