A huge congratulations to our Training and Development Director, Jayne Easterbrook, at Care First 24 for winning the Homecare Association’s Chief Nurse’s Silver Award, recognising an outstanding contribution to social care over 42 years.

Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care Deborah Sturdy presented Jayne with the award at the Homecare Association annual conference on Wednesday 14th May 2025.

Jayne had no idea in advance and was lost for words!

Jayne has dedicated 42 years to social care. She started in learning disability services before training as a nurse at Lewisham Hospital in the early 1980s. Her knowledge, skills, and dedication to high-quality care in the sector is exemplary.

Since 2003, Jayne has been deeply involved in training and development for the sector, spending the last 22 years ensuring the social care workforce is skilled and equipped with the information and knowledge to deliver the best possible care.

Jayne worked for the Homecare Association for 9 years, as Learning and Development Specialist. In this role, she developed and delivered hundreds of high-quality training workshops to homecare providers across the UK. She devised courses on a range of important topics, including medicines management; end-of-life care; dementia care; regulatory compliance; safeguarding; quality assurance and auditing.

Jayne partnered with organisations like the Alzheimer’s Society and the King’s Fund to advance social care training and career development. Jayne’s work helped many Homecare Association members get high ratings from the Care Quality Commission.

As Training and Development Director at Care First 24 Ltd, Jayne was key to establishing its training programmes for all staff. Her innovative work includes implementing nursing apprenticeships and hosting NMC placements from universities within Care First 24. Most notably, Jayne played a crucial role in designing a Nursing Apprenticeship course focused on social care with the University of Westminster, scheduled to commence in late 2025.

Jayne has also designed a preceptorship for Apprentice Nurses who train and qualify at Care First 24, creating an innovative solution that shows her dedication to ensuring newly qualified Nurses see social care as a viable and rewarding career path. She has been involved in the early adopter’s care workforce pathway project and many other initiatives, working tirelessly to establish professional pathways for all staff in the sector.

What sets Jayne apart is her genuine care and compassion for everyone she encounters, ensuring the provision of truly personalised care and training.
